DAY 1

Londrossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

After departing from Arusha, enjoy a scenic 45-minute drive through charming mountainside villages on your way to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Once on the trail, you’ll immerse yourself in the lush rainforest, with its winding paths and vibrant wildlife. Your guide will share insights about the local flora, fauna, and ecosystem. At lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and slippery, so we highly recommend wearing gaiters and using trekking poles for added stability.

DAY 2

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

After a restful night and a hearty breakfast, we leave the rainforest behind and begin our ascent. The trail steadily climbs, offering expansive views as we approach the rim of the Shira Plateau. As we gain altitude, temperatures begin to drop, marking a transition to higher, cooler terrain.

DAY 3

Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

While you end the day at a similar elevation to where you started, this
stage is crucial for acclimatization. From Shira Plateau, we continue
east, ascending a ridge and passing the junction toward Kibo Peak.
We then head southeast towards the Lava Tower, also known as the
“Shark’s Tooth” (4,650m/15,250ft). After passing the tower, we reach
another junction leading to the Arrow Glacier. We then descend to
Barranco Camp for the night, allowing your body to adjust to the
higher altitude.

DAY 4

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After breakfast, we begin the steep ascent up the iconic Barranco Wall, a thrilling challenge that leads us to the Karanga Valley. At the valley, we reach the junction connecting to the Mweka Trail. This is one of the most impressive days, as you’ll witness the strength, agility, and skill of your crew effortlessly navigating the wall. We overnight at Karanga Camp, surrounded by stunning views.

DAY 5

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

We continue our ascent toward Barafu Camp, completing the South Circuit, which provides stunning, panoramic views of the summit from multiple angles. After arriving, we enjoy an early dinner and rest to prepare for the challenging summit night ahead. Overnight at Barafu Camp.

DAY 6

Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp

Excitement builds as we start between midnight and 2 a.m. This is the most physically and mentally demanding part of the trek. We ascend between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, staying warm and focused on the summit ahead. The path winds northwest, climbing through scree to Stella Point on the crater rim, where you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise. Faster hikers may catch the sunrise from the summit.From Stella Point, it’s a final hour to Uhuru Peak, where snow may greet you along the way. “Congratulations, you’ve reached Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro and all of Africa!“ After celebrating and taking photos, we begin our descent to Mweka Camp, with a lunch and brief rest at Barafu. The loose gravel and ash terrain make gaiters and trekking poles highly recommended. A well-earned rest awaits at Mweka Camp, where you’ll spend your last night on the mountain.

DAY 7

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

After breakfast and a team appreciation ceremony, it’s time to say farewell to your guides, cooks, and porters—don’t forget to tip them! We begin the descent to Mweka Park Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka Village for drive back to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha. Enjoy a well-deserved hot shower, dinner, and celebration!
