Hilary was just 22 years old. He is originally from the area around Kilimanjaro, from a tribe called Chaga. From a young age Hilary knew he wanted to show his country to the people, so he went to Tourism School in Arusha and paid the tuition with the money he earned by working in several ways in Arusha. During his studies, he learned about the tourism business and he further learned about all the animals in the parks of Tanzania. After his studies Hilary worked as a guide and learned more on the wildlife as well as on hospitality. Soon he was clear that he wanted to start his own tourism company, so he bought a 4×4 car from the money he had saved. This is when Suricata Safaris was started. Hilary now takes care of his family and is the proud owner of Suricata Safaris.
In August of 2017, Martin, from German origin, visited Tanzania and had a safari tour with Hilary. Martin explains that he saw something in Hilary that was more than a tour guide. He saw someone very focused and organized, yet with a very good sense of humor. He says: ̈Hilary always went the extra mile to make us happy! For him, his biggest reward was to see the group happy. ̈ Martin further explained ̈Hilary is a humble man and a very knowledgeable safari guide. He found all the animals and showed us things that no other safari tours went to see. ̈ That was the moment Martin knew that Hilary would be a great business partner and an even better friend. Hilary could not have been more happy to see their business grow and employ more local people of Tanzania.
