WELCOME TO THE BEST BEACH HOLIDAYS OF YOUR LIFE!

Zanzibar experiences warm temperatures all year round. The average temperature of Zanzibar clocks between 22°C to 32°C (degrees Celsius); 71,6°F to 89,6°F (degrees Fahrenheit).

The dry seasons of December to February and June to October are the best time to visit Zanzibar. Whereas the rainy season sees very few visitors, which means you can score good deals on your Zanzibar holiday packages.

However, during Ramadan, many shops and restaurants remain shut. Christmas and Easter are the most popular and sees a lot of overseas visitors. In late June and early July, the Festival of the Dhow Countries is held in Zanzibar.

Zanzibar cuisine

In these Spice Islands, you will find a fusion of wonderful flavors and aromas in the local Zanzibar cuisine where you can experience African, Arab, Indian, Goan, and Chinese-influenced traditional food.

Seafood is freshly caught and you will find spicy Zanzibar specialties including Prawns, Lobster, Kingfish, Crabs, Octopus, and Squid. Meat lovers will find plenty of skewered and grilled options. The vegetarians can look forward to amazing cheese pizzas to veg curries!

Zanzibar follows a mixed food culture. So you can expect to savor samosa, Chinese noodles, coconut-milk curries, Arabian specialties, and much more mouth-watering dishes. The seasoned Mangoes are super delicious; other fruits include bananas, pineapples, and papayas.

Zanzibar accommodation

Zanzibar offers some of the most brochure-perfect accommodations. Starting from cheap backpacker beach bungalows to plush boutique hotels the ranges of accommodation in Zanzibar are incomparable. Unlike Tanzania safari holidays, there are no campsites here but you can easily find plenty of mid-range guesthouses and also large, mass-market resorts. We can find the perfect accommodation together.

Health & safety in Zanzibar

In Zanzibar malaria is a risk, so prophylaxis is essential. On behalf of Suricata Safaris, we urge you to take the following vaccines before starting your Zanzibar beach holidays.

— Tetanus;

— Hepatitis A;

— Typhoid fever;

— Meningitis.

Also, it is best to check with your doctor or general practitioner (GP) before your Zanzibar travel. We recommend you to bring a basic medical kit for treating insect bites, sun-stroke/dehydration, and diarrhea.

Getting to Zanzibar

From Dar es Salaam there are regular, quick and easy ferry boats rides from the Ferry Station in Dar es Salaam and the trip should take around 70 minutes, costing up to USD 50. Alternatively, you can fly into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport on Unguja Island.

From Kilimanjaro International Airport you can choose local flights.

Traveling from Zanzibar Abeid Amani Karume International Airport back home is usually the best option. You will probably need to stop along the way, possibly in Nairobi, Dubai or Doha, depending on which airline you opt for.
