Lemosho Route

Lemosho Route is often considered the most beautiful of all the trekking trails up Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route is one of the newer Kilimanjaro Routes offering panoramic views of the mountain and a higher summit success rate. The early days on the Lemosho Route provides plenty of solitude, as this trail sees far less traffic than Machame and Marangu route. This makes an already-great trekking adventure even more spectacular as at times it will feel like you have the entire mountain to yourself.

Lemosho Route variations

Lemosho Route is one of the most ideal routes compared to other routes and it starts through a lush forest and continues towards the Shira plateau. It is recommeded a minimum of 7 days attempt to this route but 8 or 9 days attempt would be preferred for higher acclimatization and a successful summit.

The Lemosho Route cost for a seven-day group climb or private climb starts from US$ 2500 onwards depending on the services being provided. This price is inclusive of lodging, meals, trekking permissions, and more.

If you decided to go for the eight-day Lemosho Route trip, the cost increases up to $300-$400 per person. This option includes eight days on the mountain and one day on either side at our partner lodge in Moshi.

Lemosho Route tips

— Prepare a perfect playlist of your favorite songs to listen while climbing the summit.

— Try to stay positive even when the journey seems impossible as climbing can be physically and mentally challenging.

— Be sure to wear your hiking boots before your adventure to Kilimanjaro to avoid blisters.

— Be sure to pack a generous supply of wet wipes and be prepared not to shower for a week.

— To reduce the symptoms of altitude sickness, you must consume as much water as physically possible.

— You should also be mentally prepared for case of altitude sickness. Altitude sickness occurs on the third day of your hike; therefore, it is best to allow extra time in your itinerary where possible.

— We suggest you to add an extra night to your journey to reduce the impact of altitude sickness.

— Try to spend a few weekends camping to get familiar with using limited facilities so that it mentally prepares for the Kilimanjaro climbing and helps you overcome any small barriers you might encounter.

— The best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro is from June to October.
